I received my original alpaca socks several years ago as a gift from my husband. The Mercantile in Portage was where he purchased them, so I bought there, too. However, they'd changed suppliers.
After several attempts, I connected with the vendor and secured the name of my original socks maker: Wauman. Thinking I had finally hit the sock jackpot, I ordered 4 pair.
I AM SOOO DISAPPOINTED IN THESE SOCKS!!! I've waited for a long while to post because I wanted to be sure it wasn't just a matter of 'breaking them in'. After more washes than I can count, they are still scratchy - not at all the soft, plushy original socks I received, even though I purchased the exact same pattern. These socks have an elastic band in the top that I feel that is not in the older socks, and the material must be some blend besides alpaca because these socks simply don't feel good on, whereas the old socks feel like a very soft cushion. I'm so sad for myself, but also for the people to whom I had looked forward to giving them to as gifts. Unfortunately, they'll likely become a very generous donation to St. Vincent de Paul because they are, unlike the originals, not nice to my skin. I cannot recommend this product. They used to be so much better!
This was a gift for my daughter in law who lives in Colorado -- she is very very happy with them. Comfy and warm.

This is my third time getting Wuaman socks for my family for Christmas, and it’s a gift that’s always appreciated! The socks are incredibly soft and warm and won’t let your feet get wet. The designs are lovely too. And Wuaman ships very quickly!

Not sure what else to say- they’re warm, cozy, don’t slide down, don’t strangle my feet at the arches… I have 2 older pairs with patches on them and I still wear them! Got myself 4 new pairs! 💃🏻
